a dedicated and well-trained OH&S Section
reporting to the Vice President-Corporate
Support (who is also the Chairman of the
OH&S Management Steering Committee and a
member of the top DEWA Management Team).
The OH&S Section audits continually all
practices and supports line management and
staff with expert advice, guidelines, education
and training. |

Have
an Occupational Health & Safety Management
Steering Committee ( which issues policies
and determines strategies for improvement),
chaired by the Vice President - Corporate
Support and has senior members from all
divisions. |

Make
Senior Managers/ Managers and senior staff
responsible for the implementation of Occupational
Health and Safety policies at the workplace
level. |
 |
Yearly
review of our Occupational Health & Safety
Procedyres to ensure observance to them
by regular auditing of all activities by
the Occupational Health & Safety Section,
Internal Audit and external bodies. |
 |
Maintain
active Occupational Health & Safety Committees
in each department and workplace, comprising
of staff also from "shop-floor" level as
members. |
 |
Maintain
in each department or workplace certified
First Aiders and trained Fire Wardens. |
 |
Ensure
that risk assessment is applied to activities
within DEWA premises. |
 |
Monitor
Occupational Health & Safety performance
by tracking and following up accidents and
near hits by the Departments and the OH&S
Section, taking preventive and corrective
actions and addressing hazardous situations
or practices. |

Educate
our staff and others as applicable in Occupational
Health & Safety issues through regular Toolbox
Talks by line supervisors and in depth training
sessions conducted /organized by the OH&S
Section. |

Promote
the safe use of electricity and water with
our customers and care for Public Safety
related to our operations. |
