Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) gives much importance to the belief that using electricity and water rationally is a basic-yet-essential step in the course of sustainable development, for communities and nations alike. This behaviour of rational consumption is quite critical in the eyes of DEWA, for the protecting of our environment and preserving its vital natural resources. Enhancing the civilized face of a nation rests on each and every individual of our planet - who consumes energy and natural resource directly or indirectly. |

importance of rational utility consumption as a way of conducting everyday
life in a civilized manner … DEWA
has launched a series of specialized “Your Decision”
campaigns using efficient mass communication methods.
The primary objective of DEWA, in conceptualizing and carrying out the “Your Decision” campaign, is to work out the invaluable Dubai dream. It is the executing of the vision of his Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum - Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. To become a quintessential city of the world, in all economic and social domains, is a trademark attitude of Dubai for which DEWA is equally committed to – for the pride of our country and well-being of our existence. This ambitious programme demonstrates DEWA's sustained efforts and its strong engagement in adopting creative ways to communicate conservation concerns with its varied stakeholders. All for the cause of making a change in energy and natural resource consumption and usage, for the benefit of generations to come. Campaigns •Used different means. New tools were considered and various channels were optimally used to raise awareness, provide information and educate, propagate and promote the message of conservation to the public. •Made people aware of their responsibilities towards preserving our precious resources. •Focused much on the message of rationalization. And categorically succeeded in: 1- Raising awareness in society. 2- Presenting the message / information to those who do not have it. 3- Changing consumption patterns. 4- Receiving support and encouraging from the society. 5- Invoking public desire for making a shift towards more efficient usage of electricity and water. 6- Building favorable partner-relations with the government and private institutions, and enhancing the level of cooperation between them. The campaigns were well received and widely accepted by all strategic partners including government offices, private companies, shopping centers, schools, and sports & games establishments. These partners played an important role in the awareness-building programs launched by DEWA, for developing the using-energy-smartly concept and to propagate the importance of rational consumption of electricity and water. |
