DEWA strongly believes that excellence in the environmental fields is an important means of competitions. DEWA willingness to work for lasting and sustainable development is evident in its environmental policy. DEWA strives to work with environmental issues in a consistent and systematic manner.

An Environmental Management System in accordance with the ISO 14001 has been successively introduced. In February 1998, ISO 14001 certificate has been awarded to DEWA. DEWA has been ranked among the first few utilities world wide to get this certificate.

The Environmental Management System includes establishing objectives for environmental work and training personnel. Clear environmental objectives and awareness on the part of all employees will increase commitment and increase the pace of DEWA's environmental work.

Through continuous improvement, DEWA will further enhance its expertise and competence, reduce environmental effects of all its activities and continue the development of sustainable electricity and water supply for the all customers in Emirate of Dubai.
