DEWA receives more than 120 students from schools and universities for the summer training program
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) started its annual summer training program from June 27th to Aug 5th 2010 with the participation of more than 120 students from high schools and universities.
The program is designed to qualify students for community service and sharpen their planning and organizational skills in order to develop their creative aspects and professional skills. The summer training program comes within the framework of the Authority's strategy in support of social responsibility among all sectors of society.
H.E Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority stated: "Summer training programs are inherent part of the DEWA's strategy to support the social responsibility concept. These activities highlight the importance of DEWA’s role in the area of sustainable development. We take responsibility in supporting the economic development which is directly reflected on the social and cultural level in Dubai. The training programs are part of our annual strategic plans in order to achieve the best results in supporting the professional skills and creativity of students. "
“DEWA is keen to communicate with students and the future generations. We provide training opportunities aimed to improve their academic level, while enabling them with all the necessary skills that are needed to unleash their creativity. This training is a testing phase for those students during which they have to prove their abilities and capabilities and these students must be eager also to enroll in our summer training programs. " H.E added.
Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, vice president of human resources at DEWA said: "DEWA has developed training plans for young Emirati students to develop their abilities and develop their skills, and provide them with different opportunities to acquire professional expertise which will help them develop an academic orientation and professional experience ".
"The students’ training program constitutes an opportunity to acquire the needed skills to face daily life problems while exposing the students to different cultures. The program will give them an opportunity to learn how to take responsibility, work as a team, as well as other skills," he added.
Fatima Marzouqi, Senior Manager -Training at DEWA stated: "The aim of this training is to encourage the students to achieve the greatest possible benefits. We give them the necessary confidence by engaging them in the labor market; we prepare them psychologically, practically and technically in a way that differs from their academic studies".
"We will be distributing them in different sectors, departments and division within DEWA to achieve the greatest possible benefits from the training program. We will follow up the students, and will continue their evaluation throughout the training period in order to give tributes at the end of the training period, " she added.
"DEWA presents an opportunity to join “INTILAQ” program in the electrical and mechanical engineering specialties for high school graduates who obtained 80% average and above, as well as college and university students who are in their Junior and Senior years. We also present the choice of getting a Diploma of Engineering electricity to students with an average of 60% and above and according to our internal procedures, " she concluded.
