Scholarship Program

DEWA has a comprehensive strategy to promote Emiratisation. DEWA’s Emiratisation plan includes providing scholarships for Emirati students in some of the leading educational organisations in the UAE and abroad. The Scholarship Programme includes:

  • Intilaq Programme for a Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering in different government and private universities and colleges.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering in the United Arab Emirates University.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering in Higher Colleges of Technology (Dubai Men’s College).

  • Bachelor’s Degree in renewable energy (abroad).

  • Bachelor’s Degree in renewable energy from University of Sharjah.


Intilaq Programme: Bachelor’s of mechanical or electrical engineering



DEWA introduced this programme, which is carried out in coordination with several government and private universities and colleges in the UAE, to prepare and qualify Emirati students who are:

  • High school graduates to occupy positions in these specialties.

  • Students in their final or before-final years in government and private universities and colleges


Programme duration:

Students complete a full-time study course in the university where they are accepted as per the prescribed study years.


Rewards and benefits: 

Students enrolled in this programme are entitled to the following benefits:

  • Monthly allowance of AED 6,500 for the duration of study.

  • Medical insurance for the duration of study.

  • Additional reward of AED 1,500 during summer training for 6 weeks each year


Salary  and benefits after receiving the bachelor’s degree:


After completing the programme and receiving the bachelor’s degree, the graduate is appointed in an engineering position at DEWA and receives an attractive salary and additional benefits. 


Other benefits:
  • Increment based on annual appraisal.

  • Annual leave for 22 working days.

  • Enrollment in the retirement and pension scheme.

  • Opportunities for promotion and training in the UAE and abroad.

  • Shift allowances.

  • Medical insurance.

  • Annual leave tickets.

  • Education allowance for children.


Conditions for joining the programme:
  • Applicant should be a UAE citizen.

  • Achieving at least 80% in the  high-school certificate.

  • Passing the written tests and interview.

  • Undertaking to work for DEWA after getting the bachelor’s degree as per the agreed period.

  • To be medically fit.

  • To have a certificate of good conduct.


Required documents:
  • Passport copy.

  • Family Book copy.

  • Emirates ID copy.

  • Certificate of Good Conduct.

  • Attested copy of the high-school certificates for grades 10, 11, and 12, showing the percentages if applicant is a high school graduate.

  • Copy of GPA if applicant is a university student in the final or before-final year.

  • Two passport-size photos.


Bachelor’s in electrical or mechanical engineering from UAE University


As part of its efforts to Emiratise engineering jobs, DEWA provides scholarships for a bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical Engineering in cooperation with the United Arab Emirates University.


Programme duration:

Students take a five-year full-time study course in the university including a preparatory year.


Rewards and benefits:

Students enrolled in this programme are entitled to the following benefits:

  • Monthly allowance of AED 6,500 for the duration of study.

  • Medical insurance for the duration of study.

  • Additional reward of AED 1,500 during summer training for 6 weeks each year.


Salary  and benefits after receiving the bachelor’s degree:

Bachelor’s degree of electrical engineering in HCT (Dubai Men's College)


DEWA introduced this programme, which is implemented in cooperation with the Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai, to prepare Emirati High School graduates for engineering positions at DEWA, after getting a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.


Programme duration:

Students complete a five-year full-time study course in HCT including a preparatory year.


Rewards and benefits: 

Students enrolled in this programme are entitled to the following benefits:

  • Monthly allowance of AED 6,500 for the duration of study.

  • Medical insurance for the duration of study.

  • Additional reward of AED 1,500 during summer training for 6 weeks each year.


Salary and benefits after receiving the bachelor’s degree:


After completing the programme and receiving the bachelor’s degree, the graduate is appointed in an engineering position at DEWA and receives an attractive salary and additional benefits.

DEWA introduced this programme to prepare Emirati high-school graduates for engineering posts in renewable energy at DEWA, after getting a bachelor’s degree.


Programme duration:

Students take a full-time study course abroad as per the prescribed study years.


Rewards and benefits: 

DEWA will pay the study fees, in addition to a monthly allowance and medical insurance throughout the study period.


Salary  and benefits after receiving the bachelor’s degree:

After completing the programme and receiving the bachelor’s degree, the graduate is appointed in an engineering position at DEWA and receives an attractive salary and additional benefits.


Other benefits:

Bachelor’s in renewable energy from University of Sharjah


As part of its commitment towards environmental sustainability, and its support for Emiratisation, DEWA provides scholarships for a bachelor’s degree in renewable energy in cooperation with the University of Sharjah.


Programme duration:

Students complete a five-year full-time study course in the University of Sharjah including a preparatory year.


Rewards and benefits: 

Students enrolled in this programme are entitled to the following benefits:
  • Monthly allowance of AED 6,500 for the duration of study.

  • Medical insurance for the duration of study.

  • Additional reward of AED 1,500 during summer training for 6 weeks each year.


Salary  and benefits after receiving the bachelor’s degree:
