Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised its annual appreciation ceremony for its partners. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, honoured DEWA’s partners including national, public, and private organisations, as well as the media. This supports the vision of Dubai’s wise leadership, and supports DEWA’s commitment to care for its partners, and their role in achieving DEWA’s strategic objectives.

The ceremony was also attended by Ahmed Al Matrooshi, Managing Director of Emaar Properties, Taib Mahmoud Al Awadhi, Senior Vice President for Production Operations at Emirates Global Aluminum, Salah Mohammed Amin, Director of Emirates NBD, and Frode Mauring, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program to the UAE United Arab Emirates, Mohammed Abdullah Al Hathboor, Property Operations Director at Meydan Group, and Adnan Al Abbar, Senior Vice President of Project Management at DP World and representatives of major public and private companies including Microsoft, Emirates Green Building Council, Mitsubishi, IBM Middle East, SAP Middle East and North Africa, DUSUP, Innogy, ABB Group, EDF, Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence, Siemens, and other companies.

DEWA’s annual appreciation ceremony honours its partners who contribute to supporting its projects, initiatives and programmes, in line with the Dubai Strategic Plan, and achieving the highest standards of excellence in services provided by DEWA, to its partners and customers. Al Tayer welcomed the Ministers and Director Generals of the public bodies, and the senior officials from the ministries, and public and private institutions honoured during the ceremony.

“Dear partners, I welcome you all to our annual meeting, which we organise to celebrate your efforts, and to express our deepest appreciation for your support to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA)’s drive to success. Your efforts complement our projects, initiatives and programmes, and support our efforts to achieve the aspirations of our leadership to lead, excel and innovate, so that we can improve the competitiveness of the UAE, and the Emirate of Dubai, regionally and globally. As His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, once observed, “The UAE will continue to build its economic capacity in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the close follow up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The UAE’s economic growth will be achieved through the clear strategy laid out in the UAE Vision 2021. The UAE’s success has created a unique model for human development, as well as for building a sustainable and diverse economy and ensuring the happiness of all members of its society,”” said Al Tayer.

“In line with this vision and the Dubai Plan 2021, to provide the highest quality government services, we adopt the best international practices to achieve people’s happiness, according to DEWA’s strategy for 2021, and we believe in the importance of all public and private institutions making joint efforts to strengthen our partnerships and cooperation. We prioritise the happiness of all our stakeholders, especially our strategic and main partners, to support the process of excellence in anticipating and shaping the future, and developing long-term proactive plans to reach the government of the future , to manage the Fourth Industrial Revolution, as well as using disruptive technologies in the production, transmission and distribution of electricity and water, providing electricity and water services at world-class levels of reliability, efficiency, safety, and environment. We want to achieve our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, within the framework of the fourth-generation government excellence system. We work on building strong relationships and strategic partnerships with various local, regional and international public and private institutions. We are keen to share best practices and experiences to achieve success, institutional excellence, and continuous business development, to contribute effectively to the social, economic, and environmental development of Dubai,” added Al Tayer.

“Our teamwork has resulted in DEWA achieving 85.11% in its Partners Happiness Score in 2016, for both strategic and main partners, compared to 81.39% in 2015. This is in addition to great achievements in all the key sectors of our business, which include traditional and renewable energy, creativity, innovation, and sustainability. I sincerely thank you all for your being here today, and hope that our partnership will continue to grow to benefit our country, to achieve a brighter future for us all,” concluded Al Tayer.

At the end of the ceremony, Al Tayer honoured the strategic partners from the federal and local governments, the private sector and the media. Al Tayer commended their essential role in DEWA’s achievement of its strategic objectives, and their active contribution to enhancing DEWA’s efforts to promote sustainable development in the UAE.
