Al Tayer receives Japanese Consul-General

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received HE Akima Umezawa, the new Consul-General of Japan in Dubai, and congratulated him on his new position. Umezawa was accompanied by Jumpei Yamaguchi, Vice Consul, Economic Section. This comes within the framework of diplomatic and consular visits to DEWA.

Al Tayer welcomed the new Consul General of Japan and wished him success in his upcoming diplomatic mission, stressing DEWA’s keenness to consolidate cooperation and joint work with all diplomatic and consular missions in the UAE. Al Tayer also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation frameworks, and building fruitful partnerships with Japanese companies in fields related to various energy sectors.

Al Tayer also shared DEWA's energy diversification projects, initiatives, and programmes, especially renewable and clean projects with the Japanese delegates. He focused on solar projects, including the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 7% of Dubai's energy from clean sources by 2020, 25% by 2030 and 75% by 2050.

Umezawa commended DEWA’s efforts, and the facilities it offers to Japanese companies in Dubai. He conveyed his interest in participating in DEWA’s projects, and having a fruitful cooperation with DEWA to achieve sustainable development in Dubai.
