MD & CEO of DEWA visits Dubai Autism Centre

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), visited the Dubai Autism Centre (DAC) in Al Garhoud, and was welcomed by Khalid Al Malik, Board member of DAC; Mohammad Al Emadi, DAC board member & Director General; and the administrative, technical, and media staff at DAC.

During his visit, Al Tayer was accompanied by Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, and Amal Koshak, Vice President of Marketing & Corporate Communications at DEWA.

The visit supports DEWA’s strategy to consolidate social responsibility by continuously focusing on the concepts of giving and solidarity through sponsoring charitable and humanitarian institutions, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The visit also supports DEWA’s programmes during the Year of Tolerance to strengthen the values of compassion, togetherness and solidarity as well as celebrate the diversity of the UAE. This is a priority for nations that are integrating People of Determination into their societies and achieving their happiness in a qualified and flexible environment, which helps them to realise their potential and prove their capabilities.

During the visit, Al Tayer reviewed DAC’s work and toured its facilities and wings. He also met with children with autism and praised the efforts of DAC’s staff, expressing his admiration for the provided special services to educate and rehabilitate people with autism.

“DEWA is committed to launching pioneering social initiatives, especially those that empower People of Determination in an adaptive and flexible environment that allows them to unleash their potential and prove their capabilities. This is part of DEWA’s role as a socially-responsible government organisation to achieve the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai and the UAE into a hub for humanitarian work and to promote community service. Such initiatives also fall within the framework of The National Policy for Empowering People of Determination, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to create an inclusive society that ensures empowerment and a decent life for People of Determination and their families. Our corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy includes several annual programmes and initiatives as well as supports humanitarian and charitable activities locally, regionally, and globally,” said Al Tayer.

“DEWA’s social initiatives and programmes are an integral part of its strategy to serve the public good, particularly in supporting and empowering People of Determination. This supports Dubai Plan 2021, which aims to make Dubai an inclusive and unified society that embraces common civic values and whose cohesive families and communities form the bedrock of society. It also supports the “My Community...a City for Everyone” initiative that was launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, to transform Dubai into a friendly city for People of Determination by 2020.”

In addition to its CSR and volunteering programmes and initiatives, DEWA sponsors many activities and events that serve People of Determination, including its support of 10 CSR programmes that comprised seven sponsorships and three community initiatives for People of Determination. These efforts contributed in 2018 to raising society’s happiness in DEWA’s role as an organisation that supports People of Determination to 90.26%.
