Conservation Award Categories

Distinguished Institution in Conservation

This category aims to motivate and honour institutions with efficient strategies and realistic targets; have executed innovative initiatives, and achieved significant results in electricity and water savings.

ELIGIBILITY

All educational levels from government and private sectors are eligible to participate: Nurseries, Kindergarten, Primary, Elementary, High Schools, Colleges, Universities, and Centres for People of Determination in the Emirate of Dubai.

CRITERIA

TECHNICAL PARAMETERS 75%

Energy efficiency. 40%
Water efficiency. 20%
Energy and water efficiency technologies:
Conduct technical improvements and retrofit to improve energy efficiency, such as:
  • Installing smart technologies such as motion sensors for lights in classrooms and hallways.
  • Using renewable energy such as solar or other clean energy sources.
  • Utilising recycled water for irrigation and other uses.

AWARENESS PARAMETERS 25%


Environmental activities: Taking the initiative to celebrate and participate in local and international environmental events by organizing awareness activities 5%
Lectures and workshops: Encourage students to adopt conservation practices through awareness lectures and engaging workshops by implementing the Conservation Masterclass available on DEWA’s website. 15%
Social media channels: Spread awareness on electricity and water conservation through the institution’s social media platforms using  #ConservationAward

What is the prize?

3 winners will be awarded from government and private sector as follows:

Terms and Conditions

  • The premises of the institution needs to be occupied from 1st January 2018, or earlier.
  • Fill in the registration form online by visiting www.dewa.gov.ae or DEWA Smart App.
  • Appoint a General Coordinator to coordinate between the management of the educational institute and the management of the award.
  • Incomplete, or late entries after the submission deadline, will be disqualified. The jury has the right to withhold or cancel any application if it does not comply with the terms and/or does not submit the required documents/evidence.
  • The judging committee may request additional supporting documents from the applicants and may also conduct visits to their respective sites during the evaluation period.
  • Last date to submit the application: Thursday, May 6th 2021.

Distinguished Leader

This category aims to motivate and honour principals/heads of institutions, who have shown exceptional interest in adopting best practices, accomplish innovative initiatives and raise the level of the respective educational institution to achieve significant results in electricity and water savings.

ELIGIBILITY

Principals, headmasters or authorized representatives from all government and private sectors can participate within the following educational level categories: Nurseries, Kindergarten, Primary, Elementary, High Schools, Colleges, Universities, and Centres for People of Determination in the Emirate of Dubai.

CRITERIA

Energy efficiency. 40%
Water efficiency. 20%
Environmental activities: Participate in local and global environmental events and engage students within the institution, to support the conservation of electricity and water. 10%
Lectures and workshops: Encourage students to adopt conservation practices through organising lectures and awareness programmes that contribute to the conservation of electricity and water consumption by implementing the Conservation Masterclass available on DEWA’s website. 20%
Social media channels: Spread awareness on electricity and water conservation through the institution’s social media platforms using  #ConservationAward

Distinguished Conservation Leader Tasks

  • Nominate Award Coordinator for the educational institution category.
  • Nominate Conservation Team Leader.
  • Nominate the Distinguished Parent, and most active with the administration to achieve the award’s objectives.
  • Implement the above criteria.

Distinguished Team

This category aims to motivate and honour the conservation team, in both government and private educational institutions, who adopt best practices in electricity and water conservation.

ELIGIBILITY

Students from the following educational levels from government and private sector can participate in this category: Kindergarten, Primary, Elementary and Centres for People of Determination in the Emirate of Dubai.

CRITERIA

Innovation and creativity: Implement innovative and creative initiatives that contribute to conservation awareness and reduce electricity and water consumption.

Lectures and workshops: Organize lectures, workshops and awareness programs that emphasize the importance of electricity and water conservation within school premises, by implementing the Conservation Masterclass available on DEWA’s website.
