HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received a high-profile delegation from Finland, including 17 Finnish companies. The delegation was headed Matti Anttonen, Finnish Ambassador to the UAE and Director General of the Finnish Department for External Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and included Tiero Heiska, Chairman of the Board, Owner Arc-Pro Solutions, Pasi Hurri, President and CEO of BaseN Corporation, Kaj Niemi, Chief Engineer of BaseN Corporation, Ari Ketola, Chairman & CEO of Ductor Corporation, Tuomo Hyysalo, Consultant at Ductor Corporation, Aaron Michelin, Chairman of the Board and Founder of Enersense International Oy, Jussi Holopainen Managing Director of Enersense International Oy, Tapani Niemi, Chairman of the Board of FiboxOyAb, Aleksei Novitsky, Vice President of Energy Trade GasumOy, Päivi Leiwo, Chairperson of the Board of OilonOy, John Hakalax, CEO of Solarwheeler Oy, Jyrki Vainionpää, CFO of Vapo Oy, Seppo Hautajoki, Managing Director and Vice President of Services at WärtsiläGulf FZE, Mikko Uhari, EVP, Strategy and Technology at Konecranes, Lars AkeKjell, Regional Director for Power Plants ME at WärtsiläGulf FZE, and Ibrahim Behairy, Sales Director of Ship Power Middle East at WärtsiläGulf FZE. The meeting was attended by, Waleed Salman, EVP, for Strategy and Business Development, Abdullah Al Hajri, EVP, Customer Relations, Jassim Rajab, Financial Controller, and Fatima Afoora Al Shamsi, VP of Business Development. Al Tayer welcomed the delegation, and urged Finnish companies to actively participate in the upcoming Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2013), a leading industry event that focuses on water, energy, conserving natural resources, and sustainable development, as well as future projects. The exhibition is being held in conjunction with the Dubai Global Energy Forum 2013. Al Tayer provided an overview of DEWA’s strategy, initiatives, its outstanding performance, and future projects, particularly the new Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park as well as clean coal plants for energy production, and details of the newly opened ‘Sustainable Building’ to the delegation. Both sides discussed aspects of cooperation in the energy production sector, and investment opportunities in the renewable and clean energy sector. Al Tayer said that DEWA is regarded as one of the best institutions in the world in providing highly efficient and quality services. Compared to its counterparts in developed countries, DEWA has achieved sterling records in efficiency, reliability, and sustainability, conservation and Customer Minutes Lost. The Finnish delegation expressed interest in knowing more about DEWA’s plans and projects, as well as in potential investment opportunities in Dubai.
