DEWA’s Women’s Committee organises workshop on personal and professional empowerment

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA’s) Women’s Committee has organised a workshop, entitled ‘Your Operating System Love or Fear’ at its headquarters in Zabeel East. This is part of its strategy to support and empower women in the workplace and strengthen their personal development. The workshop was organised in line with the Committee’s focus on promoting positive engagement and social relations between the employees in DEWA, and in providing an inspiring work environment that allows them to be creative and promote cooperation among them. The workshop included a lecture by Jennifer Randive, Chief Engagement Officer of Focus Direct, a Management Consultancy. She spoke about how people approach themselves positively and negatively based on external emotions, and how this in turn can affect their personal and professional lives. Randive talked about how everyone can deal with their personalities and the motives behind behaviour, and whether it’s love, fear or both. Randive also spoke about balancing personal life and work by evaluating various available options, highlighting priorities, leveraging opportunities, and time management and how this is all important to increase productivity, and encourage creativity for employees. “The Women’s Committee’s work is based on DEWA’s strategy to strengthen women’s participation in society and encourage them to be actively involved in making decisions, and supporting the social, environmental and economic growth of the nation,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Chairperson of DEWA’s Women’s Committee. “Through these workshops and activities, we are trying to create a positive environment that assists in helping women across various disciplines, focuses on their capabilities and promotes their professional and personal development,” added Al Mehairi. “The workshop is part of the training for female employees and we selected topics that match their needs and requirements. We are now working on developing diverse training sessions that cover various disciplines relevant to women to develop their skills, which can become a benchmark at all levels,” said Fatima Deemas, Deputy Chairperson of DEWA’s Women’s Committee.
