In line with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA’s) strategy to empower young employees and enhance their leadership capabilities, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, has approved the structure of DEWA's 2nd Youth Council. It includes 19 young staff representing all the sectors. The Council's strategy is based on five main themes: National Identity and Values, Continuing Education, Professional Development, Future Accelerators and Innovation; and Sustainability.
Al Tayer commended members of the 1st Youth Council and welcomed the new members, wishing them success in their new tasks. “In all our projects and initiatives, we work in line with the vision and directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to empower young people, involve them in the development process, provide an effective platform to learn about their views on various issues, communicate their ideas and suggestions and employ them to serve the UAE and its people. The Youth Council supports our strategy to invest in young people who are the leaders of tomorrow and the cornerstone of sustainable development. It contributes to enhancing communication between young employees and the Dubai Youth Council, the executive arm of the Emirates Youth Council, to enhance their skills and knowledge to participate in achieving the UAE Vision 2021 and the Dubai Plan 2021, which aims to make Dubai a city of happy, creative and empowered people, and DEWA’s vision to become a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation,” said Al Tayer.
“DEWA’s top management provides all the capabilities for young people to empower and prepare them for leading positions, and enhance positive communication. The 1st DEWA Youth Council implemented several pioneering initiatives that have enhanced the role of our young employees. The 2nd Youth Council includes a number of talented young Emiratis from all divisions. We are confident that they will be an important addition to DEWA’s efforts to empower youth to maintain DEWA’s excellence,” said Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA.
On behalf of members of the Youth Council, Aysha Alremeithi, Council President, thanked the wise leadership of the UAE for taking care of young people. She also thanked HE Saeed Al Tayer and the senior management for their confidence in the new Council, and their commitment to providing all necessary resources to empower young staff. The council members pledged to promote positive participation of all youth staff, ensure constructive interaction between them and senior management, identify challenges and propose appropriate solutions, make optimal use of young people’s capabilities, develop their skills, and contribute to enhancing national identity and good citizenship among the youth, as well as enhance their role in sustainable development.
