DEWA organises its 10th Future Engineer Summer Camp on virtual platform

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is organising the 10th Future Engineer Summer Camp virtually from 4 to 15 July 2021, with the participation of 30 DEWA staff children aged 12-15 years. The camp will cover several scientific areas such as robotics, 3D printing, programming, unmanned aerial vehicles and learning Japanese.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said that DEWA is keen on organising the Future Engineer camp every year despite the pandemic. This is part of its commitment to achieve the wise leadership’s vision to support education in the UAE and prepare the next generation to become scientists and innovators.

“The Future Engineer camp is an ideal platform to prepare students for promising careers, provide them with technical skills, and develop their scientific research, innovation, and creativity, while also motivating them to learn about science and advanced technologies. This is in line with our objectives to establish a knowledge-based environment to achieve UAE Centennial 2071 goals, which is a long-term government plan to prepare the UAE for the future. The Camp takes into account the cognitive abilities and age requirements of the students to ensure they gain appropriate knowledge, and bring science and technology closer to the new generation through practical applications. It also encourages young people to study scientific disciplines, and choose technical jobs to provide the future labour market with the necessary competencies and expertise,” added Al Tayer.

“DEWA is organising this year’s camp virtually  after the success of the virtual 8th and 9th camps held during Summer 2020 and Winter 2021. During these two camps, the happiness of participants reached 99% while their parents’ happiness reached 97%.  At DEWA, we are pleased to see a continuous turnout for our events that promote innovation among young people. Such camps enable the youth to invest their time and potential in enhancing their technical and engineering skills, nurturing their passion in innovation, scientific research, advanced science and technology,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Government Communications at DEWA.
