Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) |DEWA organises 14th Public Health and Safety Week

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is organising the 14th Health and Safety Week from 21 to 27 November. This is part of its efforts to promote a culture of health and safety within society. The Week features innovative virtual interactive activities and educational games for school and university students to help them learn about the latest health and safety procedures and standards. They can also take part in online competitions, in Arabic and English, to win valuable prizes on https://dewa.vbth.app/health-safety-quiz/

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, stated that DEWA organises the annual Health and Safety Week as part of its responsibility towards society and its commitment to instil and promote a culture of health and safety. This supports the nation’s efforts and ensure a healthier, safer, and brighter future, for generations to come.

“We focus on improving the health and safety standards across all DEWA’s projects and operations in line with our Integrated Administrative Systems Policy. This is our commitment to the effective implementation of quality, health, safety and environmental management systems. This helps us provide electricity and water services to the highest standards of availability, reliability, efficiency, and quality, while implementing the best health and safety standards as well as sustainability of resources,” said Al Tayer.

Al Tayer noted that the public’s commitment to preventative measures, and adhering to health and safety requirements set out by UAE authorities, having contributed to the country being one of the first countries to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. He encouraged everyone to continue to adhere to all necessary measures to continue the recovery journey and fully return to normal everyday life.

Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, said that DEWA is committed to adopting the best international standards and practices to keep pace with developments in occupational health and safety to provide a safe and healthy work environment. DEWA also raises society’s awareness on health, safety, and the environment standards to become positive practices adopted by the public in their daily lives.

The Health and Safety Week activities include informing society about safety measures at home in case of emergencies, such as fires and water leaks. The week also provides advice from experts on subjects such as occupational health, safety, nutrition, and first aid.
