Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) confirmed the readiness of its female and male teams to compete in the second Gov Games, which will be held from 3 to 6 April 2019 at Kite Beach, Dubai. DEWA's Sports Committee completed the mental, psychological, and physical tests to select the employees who will participate in the competitions. The Gov Game are organised under the theme ‘1 Team 1 Spirit’ with wide participation from federal and local government organisations as well as a number of international governments.

“Once again, we express our thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, for his continuous support of sports in Dubai. We also thank him for launching the Gov Games, which achieved remarkable success last year in motivating positive constructive competition among government sports teams and strengthening teamwork and team spirit among government employees. We look forward to strongly compete in the second edition this year. This supports DEWA’s strategy to encourage employees to play sports for its important role in promoting a healthy and vibrant lifestyle in addition to enhancing mental and physical capabilities, strategic planning skills, problem-solving, and adaptability among others,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources and Chairman of the Sports Committee at DEWA, affirmed the readiness of DEWA’s female and male teams to compete in the second Gov Games. He noted that DEWA’s top management is committed to providing a work environment that contributes to achieving a balance between employees’ professional and social lives and making physical activities an essential part of their daily lives.

In the first Gov Games in 2018, DEWA’s women team came second among all participating teams. The men's team also achieved the best time in some of the obstacles during the contests.
