DEWA's 'To Guide is to Care' Campaign Receives Enthusiastic Response

Programme during Ramadan Inspired Consumers to Share Knowledge on Best Practices in Saving Energy The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) today announced its energy conservation campaign 'To Guide is to Care organized to coincide with the Holy Month of Ramadan, received an enthusiastic response from a cross-section of consumers. Comprising a series of awareness workshops and seminars and complemented by an intensive marketing activity, the month-long campaign was rolled out in various areas throughout Dubai. The events witnessed the participation of a large number of consumers who were keen to obtain and exchange information on energy conservation measures. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, said: We strongly believe the best way for individuals to protect the environment is by knowledge sharing, and our campaign significantly facilitated this gesture among Dubai consumers. The future generation will judge us only by the efficacy of our actions in safeguarding the environment that we bequeath to them. Hence, it is our collective responsibility to preserve our precious natural resources. The 'To Guide is to Care' campaign included a seminar by Dr. Omar Abdelkafy at the DEWA headquarters, while an interactive 'dialogue' was organised with approximately 300 individuals at the Al Khawaneej Alriadi. A host of other events included an environmental workshop at the Dibba Fort that saw the participation of over 900 people. In conjunction with the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, DEWA also distributed information booklets to individuals at the Al Twar Ramadan Tent. Amal Koshak, Senior Manager, Demand and Tariff Management, said As part of our objective to foster a strong sense of awareness on the importance of conserving energy, we conducted community-related activities especially during Ramadan. Preserving the environment is a crucial responsibility that each one of us must take ownership for and DEWA is earnestly initiating several measures to imbibe this culture among everyone.
