DEWA launches SAP – Wave II for planning resources

To start this year, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched the international program by SAP called Wave II for planning resources. This program aims to measure, integrate and automate all DEWA’s operations in order to deliver world-class services for its customers, employees and partners. “In line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to streamline procedures and services within government departments, and based on DEWA’s commitment to establish its vision as “A Recognized World-Class Utility,” DEWA relentlessly works to achieve the highest levels of integration and efficiency of its operations to deliver world-class services for its customers, employees and partners,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA. The SAP Wave II implementation project is part of DEWA’s vision to attract the best technologies and solutions, and combine them into different electronic operations to be integrated within the objectives of Dubai’s strategic plan to achieve sustainable development. Through this initiative, DEWA aims to develop a distinguished model of services in compliance with best global practices and significantly enhance existing work systems. Also, it aims to enhance the efficiency and productivity of employees and deliver world-class services to customers,” His Excellency added. By launching this program, DEWA aims to deliver world-class services to its customers, adopt best practices to support the strategy of the UAE to provide e-services and reduce the number of government departments’ customers, so as to achieve sustainable development. “This project is made up of several programs, most important of which is SAP, whose Wave II includes four key projects: BARQ for new connections and handling technical complaints, MAWAD for procurement, DARAHIM for Finance and Accounts, and KAWADER for Human Resources, ” said Engineer Marwan bin Haider, CIO and VP-IT Division at DEWA. “This system enables DEWA to provide better services to its customers, employees and business partners by enabling end-to-end integration of business processes; providing standardization, flexibility and adaptability, integrated reporting flexibility, and ensuring better operational control and better decision support, all of which lead to customer satisfaction,” said bin Haider.
