DEWA customer wins eco-friendly Lexus for paying online

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) handed over the keys an eco-friendly Lexus CT100H to a DEWA customer who has consistently made payments on DEWA’s epay and mpay digital channels. Marwan bin Haider, CIO and Vice President of the IT Division at DEWA, handed over the keys to Tahilaramani Anand, whose DEWA account number was randomly drawn to select the winner. The competition commenced at GITEX 2011. To be eligible for the grand prize, DEWA customers had to consistently pay their bills on the mobile payment channel mpay or through DEWA’s website on the epay system from October to December 2011. “This competition contributes to conserving the environment, reduces CO2 emissions and encourages easier use of DEWA’s e-services to save our customers time and effort. DEWA is committed to delivering e-services to optimize our services to our customers in line with our vision to be a recognized world-class utility,” said Marwan Bin Haider. “DEWA adopts the concept of sustainable development and the importance of consolidating it in the society. Therefore, we hope that more customers will use e-services based on these competitions, which aim to reduce CO2 emissions by reducing the number of visitors to customer service centers,” added Bin Haider. DEWA provides regular payment channels through its offices. It also provides them through petrol stations such as ENOC and EPPCO, Emirates Post Offices, Etisalat and Bank payment machines, mpay through its website mpay.dubai.ae, and via smart phone applications, such as iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Blackberry Playbook, Android, Windows 7 as well as through DEWA’s eportal www.dewa.gov.ae
