HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy chaired the 22nd regular meeting held at the Supreme Council’s headquarters, in the presence of Ahmed Butti Al Muhairabi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council, Abdullah Kalban, President and CEO of Dubai Aluminium Company (DUBAL), Saeed Khoory, CEO of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), Abdullah AbdulKarim, Director General of Department of Petroleum Affairs, Waleed Salman, Chairman of Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence, Salem bin Musmar, Assistant Director General of Dubai Municipality for Health, Safety and Environment Control, Jeff Severin, GM of Dubai Petroleum Establishment, and representatives from Dubai Supply Authority. The meeting discussed various topics including energy efficiency and management, as well as the initiatives launched by the Supreme Council and its member companies, in line with the Dubai’s Integrated Energy Strategy 2030. “The members of the Supreme Council reviewed the roadmap for Dubai Integrated Gas Strategy 2030 to identify new sources of gas, to meet the demand of the new projects of the Dubai Government which were announced recently,” said Al Tayer. “We reviewed the initiatives launched by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) in the field of energy efficiency, minimising carbon emissions and environmental conservation. We also discussed the regulations and procedures for trading petroleum derivatives in Dubai, and evaluated DEWA’s achievement in reducing electricity network line loses to 3.5%,” added Al Tayer. The Supreme Council’s members reviewed work in progress for the Dubai Global Energy Forum (DGEF 2013) which will be held from 15-17 April 2013 under the theme of ‘Clean Energy for Sustainable Development.’ DGEF 2013 supports the ‘Green Economy for Sustainable Development’ initiative, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. DGEF 2013’s agenda will discuss various topics related to managing demand for energy, financing energy projects, solar power, green buildings, energy efficiency, climate change, and sustainability. The forum will be held in parallel with the 15th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2013), which will be attended by international companies that work in the field of oil and gas, and electricity and water technology.
