Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received a delegation from Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) to view the Electricity Distribution Control in the Distribution Control Centre at Al Qusais, as part of its efforts to exchange information, expertise, and strengthen continuous cooperation with government departments across the UAE. The delegation was headed by Abdulla Al Khemeiri, Network Management Division Manager, and included a number of ADDC officials. DEWA’s team included Abdulaziz Al Marzooqi, Senior Manager of Distribution Operations, Madhat Tachwali, Distribution Expert for the Control Centre, Ahmad Ahli, Manager of Distribution and Field Operations, Shaikha Sultan, Manager of Safety and Training, Asmaa Saeed, Distribution Coordinator, and Yasser Akel, Assistant Manager of DTS. In line with its vision to become a sustainable world-class utility, DEWA adopts an integrated strategy aimed at sharing experiences and best practices with other organisations, and promoting joint cooperation. DEWA also works with various national and international organisations to achieve common goals. The delegation was given an overview of the SCADA Distribution Control Centre, which raised the operational efficiency of networks by monitoring it around the clock and remotely controlling all its sections, through a control room which has the latest technologies of its kind. The tour began by a review of the control room, with the delegation briefed about the advantages of the control system and methods used to manage the network. They then visited the training room, where they were introduced to the simulation system for electricity distribution; enabling real-time training for workers in the control room. The visitors were also provided details on the effectiveness of the training room in the development of SCADA. The delegation thanked DEWA’s team for the tour, and expressed their admiration for their achievements in the field of controlling water distribution in order to raise the efficiency and reliability of services provided to customers.
