Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Dubai for a training programme for 30 of its Emirati staff who are assistant and deputy managers. The training course is part of DEWA’s Emerging Leaders Development Programme, and supports its strategy to support talented Nationals, and prepare third-tier leaders to take on new responsibilities. The training course is part of DEWA’s efforts to support and enable Emirati staff, develop their skills, and train them on the best practices in leadership. The MoU was signed at DEWA’s headquarters, by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Dr. Eesa Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai. According to the MoU, the University of Dubai organises a training course for one year for 30 assistant and deputy managers, as part of the Emerging Leaders Development Programme. One-on-one coaching will also be provided during the training course. “To demonstrate our commitment to equip, develop, and prepare third-tier national leaders at DEWA, We have signed this MoU with the University of Dubai, which has been chosen as a national university that offers highly-effective programmes in this area. The different programmes and training courses DEWA offers to its staff for all grades supports the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support people and develop their skills. His Highness has noted that government employees are the growth engines of Dubai’s growth, fuelling the Emirate’s development,” said Al Tayer. “This training course aims to develop and prepare participants and acquaint them with the best international practices and latest developments in leadership. DEWA implements several training programmes and activities for its staff in all fields and specialisations, in collaboration with various universities and training institutions in the UAE and abroad. It also offers scholarships for its staff to continue their studies in the best national and international universities.
