Watani Al Emarat Foundation honours DEWA

In the presence of Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Head of Sharjah Urban Planning Council, Dirar Belhoul Al Falasi, Director General of Watani Al Emarat Foundation, honoured Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) for its Platinum sponsorship of ‘Watani Emarat Humanitarian Work Award’ organised under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, coinciding with Zayed Humanitarian Day. Ahmed Abdullah, Senior Manager of External Communications received the award on behalf of HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA at the Award ceremony held at Intercontinental Festival City in Dubai. The event aimed to honour and appreciate eminent personalities and institutions for the significant imprint they have made in community-oriented activities. “We were delighted to extend our Platinum sponsorship to ‘Watani Emarat Humanitarian Work Award.’ As His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has observed: “The beginning is from Zayed, generosity has another name called Zayed” embodies the kindness of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan extended to all citizens of the UAE as well his committed actions to improving lives of millions of people around the world,” said Al Tayer. “The late Sheikh Zayed laid out the principles of humanitarian action in the UAE, which is followed by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses, the Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates. UAE is today the global capital of humanitarian action and the world’s largest donor of official development aid, as measured by the percentage of gross national income in 2013 and 2014. This confirms the UAE's commitment to noble humanitarian values that stem from the principles of Islam and Arabic traditions to help and support those in need in all parts of the world, regardless of religion or race,” added Al Tayer. “DEWA sponsored the Award in line with its role as a social responsible organisation, committed to strengthening philanthropy and humanitarian action. It reflects our societal responsibility and is line with our vision of becoming a sustainable innovative world-class utility. We recorded community consent for DEWA at 87% last year, and we aim to increase it further this year. DEWA is committed to its responsibility towards the community and the UAE Vision 2021 as well as the Dubai Plan 2021, which aims to establish a tolerant and cohesive society embracing common civic and humanitarian values,” concluded Al Tayer.
