DEWA organises tournament for its suppliers to strengthen partnerships

In line with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)'s efforts to strengthen relationships with all stakeholders, and ensure long-term strategic partnerships, DEWA organised the third tournament for suppliers, which was held at InSportz Club in Al Quoz, and saw huge participation from 32 teams in cricket, volleyball and bowling.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, commended the winning teams including General Electric (GE) who came first in cricket, and Liberty Automobiles who came second. In the volleyball tournament, DEWA ranked first, while DUCAB’s team came second. Sakina, from Geko, ranked first in the bowling tournament, while Persila and Merlin, from Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) came second and third respectively.

Al Tayer applauded the efforts of the participating teams and the spirit of the competition, which gave the games an atmosphere of fun and challenge that brought together the staff, families and supporters in one place.

“We are keen on enhancing the concept of positive energy and motivating the participants to participate in a competitive sports environment. This environment enhances the spirit of the employees and their attitude in the workplace, and solidifies the team work spirit, and encourages values of determination and challenge, as well as the desire to compete and win,” noted Al Tayer.

“The joint cooperation and the active role of our suppliers in achieving our common goals and opening new horizons to support economic growth in Dubai, has ensured we can organise joint events with all stakeholders, thereby contributing to our vision of being a globally sustainable organisation. DEWA gives special importance to sports activities, in light of its role in spreading happiness, and the preservation of public health, as well as enhancing the spirit of human and cultural harmony among the various segments of our society,” concluded Al Tayer.
