Within the framework of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)'s keenness to support the leadership's directives to ensure that sports is part of the UAE culture, and an essential component of the daily agenda of its members, DEWA is sponsoring the 5th Nad Al-Sheba Sports Tournament, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council for Dubai Government and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, under the slogan "Un-limited Capabilities". The event is the largest of its kind during the Holy Month of Ramadan, in terms of the number of athletes participating and the variety of games listed.

"DEWA is keen on supporting sports activities at all levels to strengthen the culture of interest in sports among the community, as HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, wants sports to become part of our lifestyle, to have a great impact on the improvement of spirit, body and behaviour, as well as spread happiness in society and preserve public health. In addition, it enhances the spirit of human and cultural harmony, and rapprochement among the different segments of our society in the UAE. We are pleased to sponsor the 5th NAS Sports Tournament, which has become the focus of sports fans of all ages. Its motto reflects the strong attention that our leadership places on this important category of our cohesive community,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

"This great sporting event is a unique gathering of national talent from all sports orientations, in which we have the opportunity to identify and develop those talents through these world-class competitions. Through our initiatives and community-leading programmes, we encourage community members to adopt a healthy lifestyle that contributes to their happiness, based on our belief that a society that has the elements of happiness and success is a healthy society. This supports the Dubai Plan 2021 to make Dubai a city of educated, cultured and healthy individuals,” added Al Tayer.

The number of sports in the fifth edition of NAS Sports Tournament has risen to 9 sports with prizes exceeding AED 6 million. This year includes the Al Khair tent which supports the objectives of the Year of Giving, and brings together various projects, especially for the youth of the country.
