DEWA concludes successfully its Health and Safety Week at Dubai Mall - More than 9700 people attended

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) DEWA concludes successfully its Health and Safety Week at Dubai Mall. Over than 9700 people attended. The event was from 4th to 7th December, aiming to raise community awareness of best practices in health, safety, and nutrition through innovative, interactive activities and unique educational games designed for all ages and levels.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) inaugurated DEWA’s annual Health & Safety Week. DEWA organises the week to promote a culture of health and safety, and highlight its latest developments. This is part of DEWA’s strategy to improve health and safety standards in all its projects, activities, and operations, and its commitment to update staff about the latest Health and Safety systems.

As a tribute to the year of Zayed, a Mosaic Wall Activation featuring the picture of the late Sheikh Zayed was held on the stand over the course of 4 days. The Mosaic was completed by combining 1,800 photos of guests visiting the stand to complete the iconic image of Sheikh Zayed.

The activities include specialised lectures and workshops on nutrition and the importance of a healthy lifestyle; exercise and physical activities; household safety measures in emergency situations such as fire and water leakages; general health and safety guidance; advice from nutritionists; and principles of first aid, as well as competitions, sports and educational games with valuable prizes, in addition to free medical screenings.

We aim to make this event an innovative platform that targets all society members and raise awareness among children and youth on health and safety concerns and how to deal with these issues inside and outside homes and buildings, so as to ensure a safe and sustainable future for all,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer.

“DEWA’s safety standards have exceeded 96%, which is one of the highest international percentages. DEWA has received several international awards, In 2018, DEWA was awarded the Sword of Honour for Health and Safety for the 11th time. The British Safety Council declared that we are the only organisation on the Middle East and North Africa region to win both the Globe of Honour Award for the environment and the Sword of Honour for health and safety, for seven consecutive years, and to be the first government organisation to win the two prestigious awards at the same time. It has also been certified by the British Safety Council as an occupational health and safety training centre, becoming the first government organisation to have obtained this certification. DEWA’s employees and strategic partners who undergo training are awarded credit certificates in occupational health, safety and environment from the British Safety Council,” concluded Al Tayer.
