DEWA honoured at ‘101 Ideas’ initiative for its distinguished initiatives during Year of Zayed

Sheikh Khalifa bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Private Department of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Wajib Volunteering Association, honoured Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) in the ‘101 Ideas’ initiative. The initiative, launched by Sheikh Khalifa bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, honoured organisations that carried our distinguished activities and programmes during the Year of Zayed to commemorate the values that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan instilled in the hearts of the people of the UAE. DEWA was honoured for its outstanding initiatives during the Year of Zayed.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, thanked Sheikh Khalifa bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan for launching the ‘101 Ideas’ initiatives, and for this pioneering initiative recognising DEWA.

“The Year of Zayed, which marked the centennial birth of the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, was an exceptional year for us in the UAE. DEWA’s campaign theme ‘Zayed, Always In Our Hearts,’ shows what the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, means to each Emirati. The campaign underlined the worthy values and principles that Sheikh Zayed instilled in the citizens and residents of the UAE, especially conserving natural resources and protecting the environment. The campaign also focused on the exceptional model of the UAE as a global example of solidarity and community cohesion,” said Al Tayer.

“Last year, DEWA launched over 40 social initiatives inspired by the values ​​of the Year of Zayed. Over 1.8 million people benefitted from these initiatives that were carried out by 1,700 volunteers with over 13,000 volunteering hours. DEWA launched the ‘Zayed, Always in our Hearts’ campaign on the 47th National Day. It featured a video clip that recorded over 4.6 million views on social media. DEWA also organised a number of community activities, including visits by DEWA’s staff to hospitals, and centres for People of Determination, and senior citizens,” said Khawl Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Government Communications at DEWA.

During the Year of Zayed, DEWA launched several initiatives, including the Umrat Zayed Al Khair for its employees during the Holy Month of Ramadan; celebrating Zayed Humanitarian Day by launching a class to teach Sharia, in cooperation with Dar Al Ber Society; launching an internal platform for staff to raise awareness about Sheikh Zayed’s humanitarian, environmental, and social work; and organised a social media competition as wells, titled #InspiredByZayed.
