“We appreciate the ‘From the UAE for Rohingya Children and Women’ campaign under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The values of giving and humanitarian work have always been at the core of the UAE’s efforts; extending helping hands to alleviate human suffering regardless of race, origin or religion. This is a commitment to the noble values that stem from Islamic principles and authentic Arab traditions. Launching this initiative, on Zayed Humanitarian Work Day during the Year of Tolerance, shows the approach of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, is still alive and well. It also shows that it is followed by the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in their efforts to serve humanity,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Suqia.
“At the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), under the umbrella of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), we affirm our readiness to provide everything needed to support the ‘From the UAE for Rohingya Children and Women’ campaign. This is aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in the 50-Year Charter, which states that ‘charity is indeed a major factor in the happiness of societies and the continuity of progress and prosperity.’ Suqia continues its efforts in humanitarian work and implementing one of the key objectives set by the MBRGI foundation to combat poverty and diseases. This is done by providing drinking water to those in need. Women and children in some communities spend over 6 hours a day to get water. Over 9 million people in 34 countries around the world have benefitted from Suqia’s projects,” added Al Tayer.
