HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) discussed with HE Igor Bondarev, the Consul General of Belarus, building closer ties with Belarusian water and energy companies on projects in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. They also discussed strategic collaboration between DEWA and Belarusian organisations in water and clean renewable energy. This is one of a number of diplomatic and consular visits to DEWA to foster bilateral relations, cooperation and exchange knowledge.
Al Tayer talked about DEWA’s most important initiatives and projects to achieve the vision of the wise leadership. He also outlined DEWA’s experiences in anticipating and shaping the future of energy and water by innovating a futuristic sustainable model for utilities in the production, transmission, and distribution of electricity and water. DEWA supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to provide 75% of Dubai's total power output from clean energy by 2050.
To achieve these goals, DEWA launched several renewable programmes and initiatives, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world. Using the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, it will have a production capacity of 5,000MW by 2030 with investments totaling AED 50 billion.
The Consul General of Belarus commended DEWA's efforts to upgrade the energy sector in the UAE and in Dubai in particular. He expressed admiration for DEWA’s services and facilities.
