Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has honoured the sponsors and partners of the 23rd Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), Dubai Solar Show, and speakers at the 7th World Green Economy Summit (WGES) during a virtual event.

In his speech, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, Founder and Chairman of WETEX and DSS, expressed his gratitude to HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for his patronage of WGES, which is organised by DEWA and the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), in partnership with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The summit’s theme was ‘Galvanising Action for a Sustainable Recovery.’ Al Tayer also thanked HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, for his patronage and inauguration of WETEX and Dubai Solar Show.

“These summits and exhibitions are exceptional as they’re held in conjunction with Expo 2020 Dubai, this major global event through where Dubai is hosting the world. DEWA is the official sustainable energy partner of Expo 2020 Dubai. This year’s events also coincide with the Year of the 50th in the UAE, which celebrates 50 years of the UAE’s Foundation and our readiness for 50 more years of achievements to make the UAE the world’s leading nation by its Centennial in 2071,” said Al Tayer.

“Organising Expo 2020 Dubai and the success it has achieved since its launch underlines the UAE’s leadership and its success in dealing with crises competently and efficiently; and turning challenges into promising opportunities. Likewise, the success achieved by the 7th WGES and 23rd WETEX is a testament that we are on the right track, guided by the vision and directives of our wise leadership, which is a guiding light for our initiatives and projects. In this gathering, we celebrate DEWA’s achievements and success as well as the success achieved by the partners and sponsors of WGES, WETEX, and Dubai Solar Show,” added Al Tayer.

“I extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to the sponsors, partners, exhibitors, and the media. Your efforts have consolidated the global position of WGES, WETEX, and Dubai Solar Show. This supports our shared vision to promote sustainability and increase the shift to a green economy. I hope our partnership continues for the benefit of all parties so that together, we can shape a brighter and more sustainable future for generations to come,” said Al Tayer.
