DEWA joins Emiratis’ celebrating Flag Day

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has joined citizens, ministries and government institutions the celebration of the Flag Day in response to the call of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to raise the nation’s flag on 3 November, the anniversary of the accession of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Presidency of the UAE. This was done in a festive atmosphere that showed belonging and loyalty to the UAE and pride in its national identity.

At 11am, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, raised the UAE flag at DEWA’s headquarters, accompanied by DEWA’s Executive Vice Presidents, Vice presidents, and staff. DEWA employees watched the event on DEWA's internal portal, Freejna.

“Today, we stand united hearts to express our commitment to our common destiny, affirming that all true Emiratis unite around the Union’s flag. It honors me to convey my sincere congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; Their Highnesses the Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates; Their Highnesses the Crown Princes; and all citizens and residents of the UAE, which is a nation of tolerance, peace, and goodwill for all mankind,” said Al Tayer.

“On Flag Day, the symbol of UAE sovereignty and unity, we respectfully remember the sacrifices of our Founding Fathers, who instilled the values of hard work and the comprehensive development process, to flourish over fifty years of achievements and gains. Moreover, it heralds the next fifty years of greater prosperity and development, so that we will continue to enhance the UAE’s competitiveness and global leadership, and our flag remains prevailing across all international forums," added Al Tayer.

DEWA’s celebrations on Flag Day included cultural and heritage activities, over two days. Additionally, DEWA’s activities included dedicating a page on the internal portal, which includes national information and facts about the UAE flag. Flag Day logo was also displayed on all screens across DEWA.
