Earth Week

Every year and starting from 22nd April, the world celebrates the Earth Week, an occasion for people to stand with the planet against the climatic changes taking place in the world today, most important of which is the Global Warming phenomenon. Global warming, which is a result of gasses emission, particularly carbon dioxide, is the greatest manifestation of climatic change on the environment. This phenomenon will lead on the long run to ice melting, reduction in the glaciers area, increased sea level, a change in wind movement, leading to a change in the distribution and quantity of rain. This will also result in floods, and sever changes in climatic conditions. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) believes that enough care should be directed to the environment as a major factor to achieve sustainable development, reminding others to observe the earth week, an occasion celebrated by millions of people around the world, will help in that regard. On this occasion DEWA called upon all Dubai employees to take part in celebrating the Earth Week, through observing few guidelines, at home or in the office, which help reduce the use of energy, eventually conserving the earth's environment: 1) Raise the temperature setting of the A/C by 3 degrees. This will prevent emission of about one ton pf carbon dioxide yearly. 2) Use CFL light pulp, which is 75% more efficient than ordinary light pulps, which also consumes less electricity. 3) Reduce your use of your car, use public transport, or share transportation whenever possible to reduce emission of exhaust gases. 4) Use products, and specially papers that have been produced through recycling. 5) Fit your taps and showers with water reducers. 6) Water your garden in the early morning or in the evening. Use a bucket to wash your car or clean the windows. Protecting the environment is a responsibility all of us share Be with us .. Be with the Earth
