Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) focuses on rationalizing consumption during WETEX-2010

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) exerts efforts to rationalize the consumption of electricity and water amongst all its customers during WETEX 2010. The Authority aims at highlighting the importance of rational consumption of energy resources and how it is reflected on the community through the regulation of applications towards ensuring the efficient use of electricity and water. The Authority showcased its leading project that will effectively contribute in rationalizing the use of electricity and water, to reduce the GHG emissions that have harmful impact on the atmosphere. Through its platform at the Exhibition, (DEWA) demonstrates its position and strategy, to convey its message that focus on the need to unify ideas and selection of technologies that will lead to a significant reduction of electricity and water consumption and wastage, and set a definition to these smart technologies. H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) said: The Authority was clear from the beginning; we are working hard to spread awareness about principles that has brought about a significant decline in electricity and water consumption levels in Dubai. He continued ... utilized all means of communication programme and outreach activities to foster good utility-consumption practices within the society. In this context, the importance of educating youths and children is equally an important aspect, and DEWA was able to catch them young at the places children would love to spend their leisure time with. The latest venture for DEWA is the opening of DEWA role-play establishment in Kidzania, Dubai Mall. Engineer Amal Koshak, Senior Manager, Demand and Tariff Management - DEWA, stated that …. the surveys that were done during WETEX, on the subject of utility conservation, will help DEWA to enhance their efforts towards the cause of effective conservation. Koshak added, ... all the successful awareness campaigns carried out by the Authority, was a result of the corporate values and strategic vision of DEWA. Surely the sustainability of growth is the key to this thriving environment, in order to live. The Authority announced the launch of the 'Green Building Regulations – Stage II' that contains a set of standards to regulate efficiencies and performances of electricity and water in new buildings' designs. The Green Buildings Project to be implemented by Dubai aims generally at reducing electrical energy consumption, especially the energy used for cooling, lighting, water heating. These factors will contribute effectively in reducing carbon emissions, improving internal environment quality, and will reflect positively on public health. In addition to this, will increase the lifespan of buildings and will contribute in the preservation of the ecosystem that invariably leads to increased productivity while boosting Dubai's economic development.
