DEWA is currently completing 62 substations with a capacity of 400 and 132 kV

At a total cost of up to 10 billion dirhams Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) continues its efforts to develop by establishing, delivering, installing and launching Transmission and Distributions substations in various areas of Dubai. DEWA is currently working on completing 6 substations with a power capacity of 400 kV and 56 others with a power capacity of 132 kV during the first quarter of this year. DEWA’s efforts come in the framework of upgrading its capabilities to meet the growing demand for its services while continuing a steady pace in the implementation of vital projects, especially the infrastructure and in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai aiming to consolidate Dubai's position as a leader in the region and strengthen its role as a global economic and financial pole. H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer MD and CEO of DEWA stated that the total cost of these stations reached 10 billion dirhams and these stations serve various areas in Dubai whether new or existing ones. “These stations cover large areas such as Al Diyafah, Muhaisina Jumeirah Village, Mirdiff, the Business Bay, Nad Al Sheba, Dubai Studio City, Dubailand, Silicon Oasis, Dubai Investment Park, Jebel Ali Free Zone and other areas,” H.E Al Tayer added. DEWA has made unprecedented achievements in 2009 especially in the field of supply while providing the best services for its clients. DEWA also made important strides in the field of management, excellence, strategic planning, environment and occupational health and safety. “DEWA accomplished during last year's 14 major substations of 400 kV and 139 main major substations of 132 KV. These stations constitute the backbone of our transmission network, and enables us to upgrade our production efficiency and operations, thus advancing in the process of sustainable development while introducing the latest technologically advanced projects to increase our energy production,” HE added. “These stations are equipped with the-state-of-the art technologies to further enhance their reliability and efficiency. These factors will ultimately serve the Dubai’s urban and economic expansion,” HE concluded.
