Within the framework of exchanging expertise with counterpart corporations and institutions working in the field of power generation and water desalination in GCC, an official Saudi delegation from the Saudi Electricity Company visited Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. The Saudi delegation intended to look into and exchange expertise, experience and the most up-to-date systems applied by DEWA. The delegation was briefed on implementing the best practices related to corporate strategy including the use of balanced scorecards, which are based on corporate strategic dimension. At the beginning of the visit, H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer MD & CEO of DEWA welcomed the delegation and stressed the importance of supporting the different channels and ways of exchanging expertise between DEWA and the Saudi Electricity Company. H.E. Al Tayer pointed out that DEWA is keen on enhancing collaboration and coordination with the Saudi Electricity Company for the common good of both sides. Then, a meeting was held between the concerned people at DEWA and the Saudi delegation presided by Eng. Taleeh Al Metrafi – Director of Department of Business Development and Studies at the Saudi Electricity Company, Eng. Hatem Al Ghamidi, President of Technical Support in the Eastern Area, Eng. Ahmed Ba Moussa, Balanced Scorecards Coordinator in the Western Area. From DEWA side, the meeting was attended by Khawla Al Mehairi, Senior Manager – Corporate Strategy, Dr. Abdel Ellah El-Smadi, Planning Expert at MD & CEO Office, as well as DEWA’s Corporate Excellence Team. Dr. Abdel Ellah El-Smadi gave a brief overview of DEWA’s history and achievements in the field of electricity and water along with the salient projects being carried out at the time being. Afterwards, Khawla Al Mehairi gave a detailed presentation on DEWA’s experience in implementing the best practices related to strategic planning. Meanwhile, she elaborated on the methods adopted by DEWA, as well as the framework of strategic planning operations including analyses, research, and strategy implementations aiming at reviewing, improving and developing the Authority. Moreover, Ms Al Mehairi referred to the process of aligning the strategic plan and its developmental sectors with DEWA’s plan, objectives, indicators and performance. At the end of the visit, the Saudi delegation hailed the Authority’s achievements and methods expressing their hopes for continuous collaboration and exchange of expertise with DEWA in different fields, especially Corporate Strategy. Finally, the delegation extended their thanks to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority for the warm reception and hospitality.
