DEWA celebrates with 46 employee grooms and brides Under the patronage and in the presence of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and President of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), HH Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, HH Sheikh Saeed bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, DEWA held its fifth Mass Wedding Ceremony, Anwar Dubai, for its male and female employees at Za’beel Park in Dubai. The mass wedding of 46 employee grooms and brides is a continuation of DEWA’s policy to care for its employees and provide them with peace of mind and security at the start of their married lives. HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum was welcomed by HE Matar Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of DEWA, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, HE Abdulrahman Al Saleh, Director General of the Department of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Al Zarouni, Director General of the Dubai International Airport Free Zone Authority, Khalid bin Kalban, member of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, DEWA’s Board members Majid Al Shamsi, Hilal Khalfan bin Dhahir, and Nabil Abdulrahman Aref, Nejib Zaafrani, Secretary General and CEO of the Supreme Council of Energy, Khalid Al Mubarak, Dubai Government Investment Corporation, a number of senior officials at DEWA and the grooms and brides. Hospitality, in the form of sweets and Arabian coffee, were organized and served by Al Dala Al Zahabya Hospitality. This year’s mass wedding was characterized by choosing Emirati heritage as a theme of the ceremony, due to the fact that local heritage has considerable importance in the UAE’s culture and traditions. Also, traditional heritage is a good opportunity to educate youth about their ancestors’ customs and traditions. During the ceremony, there were many activities, including a traditional Emirati wedding performed by a group of Emirati women, which was appreciated by everyone. A group of children also demonstrated some popular games, which have been passed down from generation to generation to improve social cohesion, embody the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation, promote the spirit of persistence and cement ties amongst UAE citizenry. During the ceremony, the Saeed bin Mazyoud Band and the Al Ayalla Folklore Band performed heritage shows and folklore dances and the poet and presenter Rashid Shrar recited poetry. Then, couples shook hands with His Highness, as sponsor of the wedding, and had a group photograph with him. Afterwards, everyone was invited to the dinner organized by DEWA. At the end of the ceremony, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer thanked His Highness for sponsoring the wedding and for the due care given by His Highness to Emirati nationals to provide them with peace of mind and a stable start for their married lives. His Highness’s patronage of the fifth Mass Wedding, Anwar Dubai, is a continuation of ongoing efforts to provide Emirati youth with a prosperous married life and start new families that enhance the structure of Emirati society. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer pointed out that DEWA has placed a high priority on achieving psychological and family stability for its employees. This will encourage employees’ increased productivity and promoting business performance and efficiency. “The Mass wedding is part of DEWA’s social responsibility as a utility to foster cooperation amongst all sectors of society for the common good. DEWA has spared no effort to make this event successful as a token of thanks to its dedicated and loyal employees, who have contributed greatly to its successful efforts to date,” said His Excellency. Finally, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer congratulated all the grooms and brides participating in the mass wedding, wishing them a prosperous and happy married life. His Excellency also gave them valuable in-kind gifts from Hind Al Oud. The grooms and brides thanked His highness for sponsoring the event and for his continuous support.
