The delegation of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), headed by its Vice Chairman, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, has reviewed expertise, innovations, technologies, policies and best practices in the energy sector as part of its ongoing delegation to the USA. The agenda of the visit includes various meetings with representatives in the field of energy from both the US public and private sectors on matters related to demand management and energy conservation, managing sources of coal and natural gas, legislation on energy, and the most important developments and innovations in the field of clean energy. The visit continues for five days and includes New York, Colorado and Washington. During the visit to Washington, the delegation held discussions with officials from the US Energy sector on energy policies and programmes. The discussions tackled all the matters related to organic fuel, energy consumption efficiency and renewable energy. Also the delegation attended a special reception held by the US-UAE Business Council, where, His Excellency praised the efforts made by the US government and the US General Consulate in Dubai to coordinate these meetings. “The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy is always keen to look at global best practices and knowledge on how to apply the best models in the field of energy security and efficiency in the Emirate of Dubai to secure sustainable energy supply, which is one of the main factors of economic growth,” said His Excellency. “During the discussions, we reviewed the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030, which is aligned to Dubai Government’s strategy. The Council has set a plan to diversify energy sources in the Emirate by 2030 to comprise 5% from solar energy, 12% from nuclear energy, 12% from clean coal and 71% from natural gas. This plan puts energy security and sustaining resources among its key objectives to achieve sustainable development, meet both current and future energy needs, and find solutions of clean and efficient energy to meet future needs and reach a low-carbon footprint,” His Excellency added. The visit is a response to an invitation from the US Department of Energy. Headed by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Council, The DSCE delegation comprises Nejib Zaafrani, Secretary General and CEO of The DSCE, Ali bin Abdullah Al Owais, President of the Regulatory and Supervisory Bureau, Saeed Khoory, CEO of ENOC, Waleed Salman, Chairman of the Dubai Carbon Center of Excellence and member of the DSCE, Abdul Nasser Kalban, General Manager of Power & Desalination Maintenance at Dubal, and Ahmed Abdullah, Manager of Corporate Communications at DEWA.
