To honour and encourage its employees for their unique commitment and hard work, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) honoured 17 staff members within the DEWA Distinguished Employee Awards Scheme for the third quarter of 2012 at an awards ceremony held at DEWA Headquarters. This initiative is in line with its mission to become a sustainable world class utility locally and internationally. The ceremony was attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA along with Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support, and other members of the top management and DEWA employees. “We believe in striving for excellence to achieve our vision of becoming a sustainable world-class utility. This initiative takes place every quarter of each year to promote a positive work environment and recognize and encourage our distinguished employees. The Award provides DEWA employees with a strong motivation to work hard and offers the opportunity for them to be nominated for government level awards. Leadership plays a pivotal role in achieving excellence at DEWA and therefore play an important role in driving the success of individuals and promoting career opportunities. Quality and creativity are means to sustain in this race for excellence,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA. “The DEWA Distinguished Employee Awards is in line with DEWA’s strategic objectives and best practices in quality and creativity; promoting a sense of belonging and loyalty amongst employees which drives their individual performance and productivity and therefore helping DEWA in achieving its mission and enhancing the quality of services offered. At the end of the ceremony, Al Tayer encouraged the rewarded employees to continue strengthening their continuation to the success of DEWA through proactively excelling at their work while the management will continue to nurture a positive environment for them. The winners of the Distinguished Employee Awards as per category are: DEWA’s Distinguished Employee Category - Muhannad Rizik Mahmoud Al Shaar and Omar Abdalla Rashid Sahoh; Administration and Finance - Khalid Abdul Rahman Al Marzooqi; Specialized Fields - Samer Ghassan N. Samman; Technical and Engineering - Radhakrishnan Ganesan (first place) and Syed Muhammed Amir (second place); Field Services - Shihabudeen Ali; Female Distinguished Employee - Hajar Saeed Ali Al Shehhi (first place) and Nawal Saleh Mohammed Hussain (second place); Supervisory Jobs - Mohammed Osman Ghani Mohammed; Unknown Soldier - C. T. Abdul Aziz (first place) and Manoj Kumar Sreedhar Avilasm (second place); New Recruit - Riham Mustafa Helmi (first place) and Ayesha Abdulla bin Kalban (second place); UAE National - Khulood Abdulrahman Al Awadhi; Secretary - Shirley Yacap Gabug; and Creativity - Khalid Mohammed Abdulla Al Hammadi. “Through these awards, we aim to reinforce the sense of belonging of our employees and encourage them to achieve more. As the human resource is still the most important element in delivering our mission,” said Dr. Al Akraf.
