DEWA and Sharaf DG sign MoU to raise public awareness on energy conservation

The agreement seeks to promote eco-friendly products and sustainable solutions Dubai, United Arab Emirates, April 17, 2013: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Sharaj DG, the leading retail electronics dealer, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote eco-friendly products and sustainable solutions as well as raise awareness of sustainability among the community in Dubai. The MoU was signed on the third day of the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2013), organized by DEWA under the umbrella of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy as per the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai. The MoU sets out the general framework for promoting the concept of conserving energy through environment-friendly electronic products and raising awareness of issues of sustainability through joint campaigns. Under the MoU, dedicated Eco-Zones will be created within Sharaf DG main outlets to house eco-friendly home appliances. Also, the company will assist in the dissemination of energy efficiency and water conservation messages under DEWA's Home Appliances Campaign. Moreover, Sharaf DG will collaborate in training sessions organised by DEWA for its employees on eco-friendly home appliances. Mr. Waleed Salman, EVP-Strategy and Business Development, DEWA, said: We signed a series of agreements during WETEX 2013 focused on raising awareness on energy conservation practices in Dubai as part of day-to-day living.
