This year’s session sees participation from 1,300 exhibitors and sponsorship from 54 companies on a display area of 40,000 sq m Under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the 15th Water, Energy, Technology & Environment Exhibition 2013 (WETEX), opened today (Monday 15th April, 2013). Organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) under the umbrella of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, accompanied by H.E Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, opened the exhibition, whose theme is ‘Sustainable Development for All’ in the presence of a number of Their Excellency the Ministers, Heads of Government Departments and Authorities, top dignitaries and officials. The three-day exhibition is taking place from Monday (15 April 2013) until Wednesday (17 April 2013) in Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Zabeel Hall and Halls 1-6. After the opening ceremony, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum accompanied by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and MD and CEO of DEWA and top officials toured the exhibition and viewed the displays and exhibits of companies from 32 countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon, USA, Canada, Brazil, Uruguay, Anguilla, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, Finland, Austria, Belgium, Malta, UK, Russia, Malaysia, Turkey, China, Taiwan, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Japan and Iran. His Highness was given an overview of the exhibition by Al Tayer, who highlighted the wide participation of over 1,300 local and international companies. His Highness was also briefed on DEWA’s key projects and achievements, new technologies being displayed at the show as well as the topics to be discussed at the seminars; covering energy, water, electricity, environment, oil and gas. His Highness also gave his directions to reinforce steps taken by WETEX to become an international event that discusses best practices in terms of energy management , challenges and resources as well as its diversification. His Highness praised DEWA’s significant developments in line with DEWA’s vision to become a sustainable world-class utility as part of its five year strategy 2012-2016. “The success of this year's WETEX is a result of the collaborative efforts of DEWA and private and public sector companies, thus helping it achieve a high strategic rank on the global and regional fronts. WETEX is currently an ideal venue for decision makers from government and private sectors to interact as well as display its products and solutions and expand its businesses. It is also a platform for companies and organisations to highlight their values and visions about water, electricity, environment, oil & gas as well as other sectors of relevance to the specialties of the show, said Al Tayer. Al Tayer praised the wide participation at the show which has become comprehensive, full-fledged and relevant to all sort of energy fields. “ DEWA has achieved, under the umbrella of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and has contributed to enhancing the position of WETEX as a pioneering specialized exhibition on a global level. This is an achievement that adds to the credit of Dubai and the UAE in organising prominent events and international exhibitions. On government participation, Al Tayer hailed the strong participation from ministries, municipalities and public sector organizations that are displaying their services at the three day show. A wide array of companies from the UAE, region and the world is displaying at WETEX 2013 their products and solutions in electricity, water, energy, environment and oil & gas including agricultural equipment, treatment of salty water systems, lab and testing equipments and modern irrigation systems boilers, pumps, valves, pipes, electric transformers, connectors, energy saving products, generators, power transmission and distribution products.
