Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised an entertainment and educational day for 50 children with special needs and orphans from the Awqaf and Minor Affairs Foundation (AMAF), called 'Haq Al Layla with Sparky and Splashy,' as part of its strategy to support social initiatives to strengthen social cohesion among various community segments, and as part of its celebration of 15th day of the Islamic month of Sha'aban. The event was organised by the Power and Water Planning division in collaboration with Marketing and Corporate Communications division at DEWA. The ceremony was attended by Abdullah Obaidullah, EVP of Water and Civil Engineering Division, Yousef Jebril, EVP of Power and Water Planning, Khawla Al Mehairi, VP of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Abdulla Al Aghbari, VP of Distribution, Amina Mohammed from AMAF, and a number of departmental heads from Dubai Municipality. The ceremony included several cultural, and entertainment activities including poetry, face painting, Henna, and workshops to raise awareness on water and electricity conservation. The children also had the opportunity to take pictures with Splashy and Sparky. “This ceremony supports DEWA’s social responsibility to support cultural, social, and educational initiatives in Dubai. Through our support, we aim to promote awareness among the younger generation, bring joy to them, and educate them on the rationalisation of electricity and water consumption,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, VP of Marketing and Corporate Communications at DEWA. During the ceremony DEWA organised a tour of DEWA’s Sustainable Building to introduce water and electricity conservation tips, and plant new seedlings in the building’s parking area with the help of the Public Parks department at Dubai Municipality. At the end of the ceremony, a group photo with the children and Sparky and Splashy was taken, and gifts were distributed to the children. DEWA also organised a celebration for its employees to celebrate Mid-Sha'aban, and held an exhibition to sell sweets, and traditional clothing to support families with low income as part of its social responsibility.
