Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) - Meetings with French Ministers

The delegation from DSCE and DEWA meets the two French Ministers of Industry and Renewable Energy, and Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Energy

As part of the visit of the delegation of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), headed by H.E Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the DSCE and MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the delegation held discussions with the French side. The visit came in response to the invitation extended from Delphine Batho, Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Energy Arnaud Montebourg, Minister of Industry and Renewable Energy. Both sides expressed wishes to strengthen by developing strategic partnerships in the field of energy, renewable energy, smart systems, focussing on research, studies and development in terms of energy and environment. The delegation included Waleed Salman, EVP of Strategy and Business Development, Dr Yousef Al Akraf, EVP of Business Support and Human Resources, Abdul Nasser Akil Abbas, Director of Treasury, and Ahmed Abdulla, Deputy Senior Manager of External Communications, and Nourma Al Masry from Business Support. During the meeting, H.E Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer presented Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 as well as DEWA’s strategy, which aim to diversify sources of energy. His Excellency also briefed the French side about DEWA’s plans related to most state-of-the-art systems, smart grids and green buildings that have become realty through DEWA’s sustainable building at Al Qouz that comes on top of its priorities. His Excellency stated that growth percentage ranges from 4% to 5% at present, and it is targeted to be 5% in the near future, which is a relatively good percentage in comparison with global rates. “Various major French companies are currently participating in DEWA’s projects. Our meeting today aims to set a collaboration framework through a competitive environment of joint cooperation in different fields of energy and alternative energy, in addition to encouraging organizations and companies to participate in the initiatives and projects carried out by both the DSCE and DEWA. These endeavors aim to promote Dubai’s global leading and pioneering position,” said H.E Saeed Mohammed AL Tayer. The two French ministers expressed the wish and interest of the French Government in the future projects and fostering joint collaboration with the DSCE and DEWA. They also accepted His Excellency’s invitation to attend Water, Energy and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2014). At the end of the visit, both sides exchanged souvenirs. H.E Al Tayer presented copies of “Flashes of Inspiration” that was recently written by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
