HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has received a high-profile delegation from Norway. The delegation from Innovation Norway included Dr. Karl Christian Strømsem, Head of Energy and Environment, and Arne Borgersen, Responsible for Water and Waste water technology companies, Matteo Chiesa, Middle East Representative of Innovation Norway, Bård Haug, MD of Clean Water Norway Cluster (Vannklyngen), Sigmund Larsen, CEO and President of Environor AS, Ottar Aune, International Sales and Business Development Manager for Filtralite of Weber Saint-Gobain, Kjetil Bang Hagen, Sales, Marketing and Development Director of Raufoss Water & Gas AS, and Christian Wee, Global Business Development Director of Aqualyng Resource Management. The meeting was attended by DEWA officials including Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources, Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, Dawood Mohammed Khalid, Senior Manager of Commercial, Ahmed Abdulla, Senior Manager of External Communications, and Arif Julfar, Media and Marketing Manager. Al Tayer welcomed the delegation and highlighted the importance of cooperation between DEWA and Norwegian companies, encouraging them to look into establishing their presence in Dubai by drawing on the strong growth of the Emirate and its promising opportunities in energy and water sectors, particularly for green technologies. He also invited the delegates to take part in the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2014), which will take place on 14–16 April 2013 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. WETEX has established itself as the perfect platform to exchange expertise, technology and best practices related to water conservation, saving natural resources and building a sustainable environment whilst facilitating the creation of new trade opportunities. DEWA has organised a two-day programme for the delegation including several meetings with DEWA’s relevant departments, and a site tours of Jebel Ali Power Station and DEWA’s Sustainable Building in Al Quoz. The delegation was given an overview of the operational system of the plants, particularly on water production as well as with the strategies implemented to achieve greater efficiency in the plants. The Norwegian delegation thanked HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer for the warm reception and for the opportunity to exchange knowledge as well as discussing possible collaboration for DEWA’s future projects.
