HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received at his office HE Gerard Seeber, the Austrailian Senior Trade Commissioner and Consul-General to Dubai, Amanda Hodges, Deputy Consul-General and Trade Commissioner, and Zareen Hussain, Business Development Manager at the Consulate General of Australia. The visit is part of DEWA’s efforts to enhance collaboration and joint work with various organisations nationally, regionally, and globally. The meeting was attended by DEWA officials including Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources, and Ahmed Abdulla, Senior Manager of External Communications. Al Tayer welcomed the Australian delegation and said the meeting is an important opportunity to exchange views and expertise. He highlighted the importance of boosting cooperation between DEWA and specialised Australian companies and organisations working in the energy sector. Al Tayer invited Australian companies and organisations to take part in the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2014) which will be held from 14-16 April, 2014 under the theme ‘At the Forefront of Sustainability’ in conjunction with the World Green Economy Summit 2014 in collaboration with the Dubai Green Economy Partnership, whose theme is ‘Global Partnerships, Sustainable Future.’ Both events are organised by DEWA under the umbrella of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. The meeting discussed DEWA’s mega international projects in the energy sector. Seeber briefed Al Tayer on a series of seminars the Consulate General is conducting from 13-16 April in Dubai, Abu Shabi and Doha, to showcase and share experiences of Australia’s urban water trends, issues and challenges, specifically water desalination, water re-use and green building and energy efficiency. The Consul General extended an interview on behalf of the Australian Minister of Industry to meet and discuss DEWA’s projects. The Australian delegation thanked HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer for the warm reception and for the opportunity to exchange knowledge and collaboration opportunities.
