Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has successfully completed the replacement of power antenna transmission line insulators for 132kV applications from Al Aweer to Hatta at a total cost AED 12.2 million. The project is part of DEWA’s strategy to develop a solid infrastructure project for Dubai’s electricity and water networks that performs reliably and efficiently, to achieve its vision to become a sustainable world-class utility. The project included replacing all the old antenna transmission line insulators from Al Aweer to Hatta with a new design according to the most modern technologies and world standards, with a total number of 2,557 buffers for the entire line of towers, with a total of 314 towers. “DEWA’s vision is to become a sustainable world-class utility, to strengthen its infrastructure and utilities to the highest global standards, and to meet the basic needs of UAE Nationals and businesses and, where this is compatible with the economy, to drive and consolidate Dubai's position as a global hub for trade, finance, tourism and green economy,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA. “DEWA is moving forward with the implementation of its dynamic projects. The main objective of this project is to increase the operational efficiency and reliability of the power supply to the Hatta area. We started the implementation in October last year and completed it in February this year, this is an additional outstanding achievement for DEWA. The project has been executed within the planned time frame without any significant incidents or disruptions in energy supply for our customers in Hatta, which is one of the most important tourist destinations due to its pleasant climate and beautiful mountainous terrain as well as historical sites, which constitute an important source of tourist revenues for Dubai,” added Al Tayer.
