Chinese Consul General visits Jebel Ali Power Station

HE Tang Weibin, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai, has led a delegation to visit Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) Jebel Ali Power Station. The visiting delegation, including Ma Xuliang, Deputy Consul General, and other officials from the Chinese consulate, who looked at best practices adopted by DEWA in electricity generation and water desalination. The visit is part of DEWA’s efforts to promote closer ties with diplomatic missions in the UAE. The Chinese delegation was received by Yahya Alzafin, Vice President of Plant Generation, Yusufali Merchant, Advisor on Generation Operations, Mahmoud Baniabbasi, Vice President of Mechanical Maintenance, Samer Abdul Razzaq, Senior Manager of Operations, Jaber Khoory, Senior Manager of Operations, and Majid Abdulla, Senior Manager of Generation at DEWA. DEWA officials took the Chinese delegation on a tour around the plant and briefed them about the different operations which adopt the best eco-friendly solutions. The two sides discussed DEWA’s projects that are implemented in partnership with Chinese companies. At the end of the visit, the Chinese delegation thanked DEWA for the warm reception and for the chance to look closely at DEWA’s operations at Jebel Ali Power Station. The new M-Station, built at a cost of AED 10 billion, is the largest power production and desalination plant in the UAE. It is equipped with the latest and advanced technological systems. The plant has a thermal efficiency of 85% with a capacity of over 2,000 MW of electricity and 140 million imperial gallons of water per day. Its design takes into account global best practices in environmental management and emits less than 25 parts per million of nitrogen emissions.
