MD & CEO of DEWA receives Swedish Trade Minister

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received a Swedish delegation that included HE Ewa Bjorling, Sweden’s Minister for Trade, Gustav Ahlsson, Advisor to the Minister, Josa Karre, Deputy Director, Middle East Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jan Thesleff, Sweden’s Ambassador Designate to the UAE and Bahrain, Pia Roed, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Sweden in Abu Dhbai, Cherif Sayed, Vice President, Middle East and Africa, Business Sweden, and Fredrik Bodin, Project Manager, Business Sweden Dubai. Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources, Dawood Mohammed Khalid, Senior Manager of Commercial, and Ahmed Abdullah, Senior Manager of External Communications at DEWA attended the meeting. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer welcomed the Swedish delegation, underlining the need to enhance cooperation between the UAE and Sweden. Al Tayer emphasised the value of having a platform to promote communication with Swedish companies and investors, and broadening horizons of cooperation to provide investment opportunities in the energy sector in Dubai, which is looking for diversifying its energy mix and establish its position as a global hub for trade, finance, tourism, and green economy. Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s latest projects, its achievements at the local and international levels, and its effective role in enhancing the sustainable development of Dubai. He also briefed the visitors on the preparations to host the 17th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2015) which will be held from 21-23 April 2015 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Al Tayer noted that WETEX will be held in conjunction with the 2nd World Green Economy Summit 2015. He emphasised that WETEX has established its position as an ideal platform to exhibit and discuss vital topics including water, energy, protection of natural resources, and sustainable development. At the end of the meeting, the delegation thanked Al Tayer for the warm welcome, and for the opportunity to discuss mutually-beneficial cooperation.
