HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received a high-level delegation from Samsung C&T Corporation Engineering Construction Group. The visiting delegation included Chung Dae Young, Head and Senior Executive Vice President of Global Business Operations and Power Plant Sales Division, Beejay Kim, Head of MENA HQ and Middle East RHQ, Andrew DB Ahn, General Manager and Representative of the UAE Branch Office of the Middle East & Africa Regional Head Office, and Junghun Cho, Assistant Manager of the Business Support Team (Research Planning). The meeting was attended by Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development and Ahmed Abdullah, Senior Manager of External Communications at DEWA. The meeting discussed different aspects of collaboration between DEWA and Samsung C&T in terms of engineering projects related to energy and water projects. Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s vital energy and water projects as well as future Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects in partnership with the public and private sectors. These projects, including the second Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park project and the clean-coal power station at Hassyan, support the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030, which aims to diversify the energy mix by 2030 to include 71% from natural gas, 12% from nuclear power, 12% from clean coal, and 5% from solar power. Al Tayer emphasised the value of closer ties in this important sector for their mutual benefit. The Samsung delegation expressed interest to participate in DEWA’s projects and to build closer ties in this vital field. They presented a number of state-of-the-art solutions and technologies in engineering constructions. At the end of the meeting, the delegation thanked Al Tayer for the warm welcome, and for the opportunity to learn more about DEWA’s activities and projects.
