DEWA honours its football team for winning five-a-side government tournament

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has honoured DEWA’s football team for winning the 3rd Dubai Judicial Institute’s five-a-side football tournament. Sixteen teams, representing government departments and organisations, competed in an enthusiastic and challenging atmosphere. DEWA’s team won the title after beating Dubai Courts’ team 5-4 in an exciting match. DEWA’s player Mustafa Ali won the tournament’s Golden Shoe cup. “Our wise government places great importance on promoting sports. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has emphasised the importance of sports as a civilised means of communication among people. Football is particularly important as it is the most popular sport. This is the mission of the Dubai Sports Council, headed by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council,” said Al Tayer. “We at DEWA take care of our staff and encourage them to exercise and take up sports to promote a healthy lifestyle. Regular sporting activities improve physical, psychological and social health, develop skills and capabilities, and in turn achieve satisfaction, happiness and increases productivity at work,” added Al Tayer.
