The Board of Trustees of UAE Water Aid Foundation has conducted its fourth meeting at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA’s) headquarters. The meeting was chaired by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Water Aid Foundation, and attended by HE Dr Mohammed Abdullah Al Baili, Deputy Vice Chairman for Academic Affairs (Provost) of United Arab Emirates University, HE Dr Arif Sultan Al Hammadi Executive Vice President of Khalifa University, Engineer Waleed Ali Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at DEWA, and Mohammed Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of the UAE Water Aid Foundation. At the start of the meeting, Al Tayer welcomed the members and praised the UAE Water Aid Foundation for its role in supporting international efforts to provide drinking water through strong presence in critical areas, and emergency and long-term aid across the world. Al Tayer commended the move of establishing this organisation by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote the UAE’s position globally and improve the living conditions of the poor and affected communities in various countries, and achieve the sustainable development for all, as well as joining the international offers to provide clean drinking water. The Acting Executive Director of the UAE Water Aid Foundation showcased latest achievements and activities of UAE Water Aid during the past few months, which included the distribution of more than 111,000 packs of bottled drinking water for the fasting in the UAE through local charity and NGO institutions. Under the directives of the wise leadership and in cooperation with the ministry of development and global cooperation, 50,000 packs were sent to those affected in Yemen. During the meeting, the steps taken by the foundation to outline its finalised vision and mission and the objectives and activities of the foundation were also discussed, as well as its participation in the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), the finalisation of its introductory brochure, and the launch of its website: www.suqia.ae. The members also discussed the preparations for the launch of the UAE Water Aid Foundation Awards and the significance of cooperation with universities to stay updated with the scientific research. UAE Water Aid Foundation aims to provide access to clean water to people in need and distressed all over the world as well as finding innovative and permanent solutions for the lack of water through using technological and modern techniques, especially solar energy.
