HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has launched the Happiness Majlis, attended by EVPs, VPs and a large group of DEWA’s employees at its headquarters. DEWA is the first government organisation to establish a special majlis for happiness, to provide an effective work environment and support employees. This is in addition to offering a selection of services like electronic meeting room bookings and various activities, to overcome challenges which hinder employees’ efforts. The Majlis is supported by the latest tools and equipment, to offer a creative, relaxing, positive and high-quality work environment, so employees can be more creative and innovative and develop continuously. DEWA also organised a series of activities build greater interactivity amongst staff, under the theme ‘For your happiness.’ The activities developed a positive work environment to make DEWA staff happy. DEWA previously organised a visual presentation for quotes by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, about the impact of happiness on employees’ productivity and its significance in corporate work. It also included a series of educational and entertainment activities. The event was held under the theme, ‘For your happiness.’ the event took place at DEWA's offices including its headquarters, Warsan, Al Hudaiba, Sustainable Building in Al Quoz, and Jebel Ali Power Station. “DEWA is continuously working to achieve the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to create new modes of management. The Employee Happiness department at DEWA is evidence of DEWA’s achievements to date. This department has launched several activities and important events, which contribute to improving work and enhancing the relationship between DEWA and its employees. The services offered to DEWA’s employees by the Happiness Majlis, which we are celebrating the launch of today, comprises yet another one of these vital initiatives,” said Al Tayer. “DEWA adopted a new goal within its 2014-2018 strategy map, which focuses on making the specified categories of people happy, including its employees. In line with our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, we continuously work to provide amenities and environments to enhance the happiness of employees, as they are the essence of DEWA and at the core of everything we achieve. Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA also talked about the significance of such internal activities at DEWA as they strengthen cooperation between employees and boost their loyalty and performance in general. “The Employee Happiness department at DEWA plays a crucial role in developing many creative ideas, boosting communications and providing vital and beneficial programmes for employees,” said Dr. Al Akraf. “DEWA continues in its efforts to achieve continuous development and improvement, to enhance administrative thinking at DEWA and offer greater connectivity with all its employees in different sectors and departments.
